Return to form: Eagle women down Santa Fe to even record

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (December 7, 2013) – FCSAA No. 7 Tallahassee Community College snapped a four-game losing streak in convincing fashion Saturday, defeating Santa Fe College, 60-32, on the final day of the annual Florida College's Women's Basketball Shootout.

Tallahassee evened its record at 6-6 while completing a sweep of the three-game season series against the Saints, who dropped to 4-9.

Saturday's win was all about defense for the Eagles, who threatened the school's all-time record for fewest points allowed in a game. The 32 points allowed fell just shy of the record 29, set last December in a win over the College of Central Florida.

Even so, that combined with holding the Saints to 19.3 percent (11-of-57) shooting and 24 forced turnovers made this one of the Eagles' best defensive efforts ever.

Still armed with only seven active players, Tallahassee was the beneficiary of a balanced scoring attack. All seven players scored, including four in double-figures led by Addesha Collins with 15.

Aariel Allen had a double-double – 11 points and 11 rebounds. Teleshia Riley and Jasmine Queen had 10 points each.

The Eagles led 29-14 at the half then outscored Santa Fe, 31-18, in the second stanza.

After taking a break for final exams, Tallahassee will resume play on Friday when it travels to Pensacola, Fla., to open play in the Pensacola State College Classic.

The Eagles will play Florida State College at Jacksonville at 6:30 p.m. eastern.
