Eagles dominate second half, defeat Central Georgia Tech at Best Western Holiday Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 31, 2013) – FCSAA No. 7 Tallahassee Community College outscored Central Georgia Technical College in the second half, 41-14, and rolled to a 74-45 victory over the Titans on day two at the Best Western Holiday Classic.

The Eagles will carry a 9-8 record into Saturday's Panhandle Conference opener at Northwest Florida State College. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. eastern and the game will be carried by Panhandle Sports Broadcasting at www.PSBlive.com.Tyeshia Guinnie hit six three-pointers and scored a career-high 28 points to lead five players in double-figures for Tallahassee.

Addesha Collins scored 12, all in the second half, Jasmine Queen added 11 and Aariel Allen and Marija Pacar tossed in ten points each.

After scoring 109 points in Monday's overtime win against Pensacola State College, points were harder to come by on Tuesday for Central Georgia Tech. Tallahassee limited the Titans to just 31.9 percent (15-of-47) shooting and forced 22 turnovers which turned into 28 points for the Eagles.Nonetheless, Tallahassee only led 33-31 at the intermission. The second half was an entirely different story.

Leading 38-35, Tallahassee exploded for a 32-2 run and a 70-37 lead following Pacar's three-pointer with 5:18 left in the game. The Eagles shot a blistering 56.0 percent (14-of-25) in the second half while the Titans were just 4-of-18 (22.2 percent).Central Georgia Tech (8-5) was led by Ta'Kierra Gibbs who scored 15 points.

In Tuesday's first game, Pensacola State College defeated Hillsborough Community College 87-82 in overtime.
