Eagle women have winning streak snapped by Chipola

MARIANNA, Fla. (February 1, 2014) – FCSAA No. 7 Tallahassee Community College had a two-game Panhandle Conference winning streak snapped on Saturday, falling to No. 1 Chipola College, 61-22.

The 22 points set a Tallahassee record for the fewest ever scored in a game.

In stark contrast to Tuesday's upset of Gulf Coast State College, almost nothing went right for the Eagles on Saturday night.

After Marija Pacar knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game at 7-all with 16:17 left in the first half, it was all Chipola.

The Indians scored the next 25 points and held Tallahassee to just three points the rest of the half. After Pacar's basket, the Eagles didn't hit another shot until Addesha Collins' floater in the lane just seconds before the first half buzzer.

Tallahassee trailed 32-10 at the break and got no closer than 25 points during the second half.

The Eagles shot just 23.3 percent (10-of-43) for the game and was 1-for-20 on three-pointers. Free throws, uncharacteristically, were even problematic on Saturday night, as Tallahassee made just one of nine.

Pacar scored seven points to lead Tallahassee. Jasmine Queen chipped in with five.

Aariel Allen pulled down 14 rebounds for the Eagles, who dropped to 12-13 (3-5 PC) with the loss.

Chipola (23-1, 7-0), who remained undefeated in league play, was led by Evelyn Akhator's 19 points.

Tallahassee will take a week off before traveling to Northwest Florida State College next Saturday evening for a 6:30 p.m. eastern game.
