Eagles’ upset bid falls short at NWF State

NICEVILLE, Fla. (February 8, 2014) – FCSAA No. 7 Tallahassee Community College gave a gallant effort on Saturday evening before falling to NJCAA No. 8/FCSAA No. 2 Northwest Florida State College, 63-54.

With the win, Northwest Florida State improved to 20-4 (7-2 Panhandle Conference) and eliminated Tallahassee (12-14, 3-6) from postseason contention.

Tallahassee shot just 25.0 percent (7-of-28) in the first half and trailed 30-17 at the intermission. The second half went much better for the Eagles, outscored the Raiders, 37-33. However, it wasn't enough to avoid a season sweep at the hand of Northwest Florida State, who needs one more victory to clinch a berth in the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Tournament.

Marija Pacar led Tallahassee in scoring with 23 points – she hit 7-of-16 three-pointers. Tyeshia Guinnie added 12. Aariel Allen scored six and pulled down 12 rebounds.

The Eagles will return home for a Tuesday night game against Pensacola State College. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
