Women’s basketball’s Aariel Allen signs with High Point

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 29, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College women's basketball standout Aariel Allen has signed a national letter of intent with High Point University.

Allen, a native of Gainesville, Fla., was a two-year starter with Tallahassee, where she appeared in 52 total games and averaged 7.6 points and 7.2 rebounds.

Allen and three other signees completed High Point's 2014 signing class.

"I am truly excited about these final additions to our 2014-2015 squad," said High Point head coach DeUnna Hendrix. "Allen will add versatility and depth to our post game. All four of these student-athletes exemplify the qualities of HPU culture and will certainly help us improve as a team."

After posting just 4.7 points per game as a freshman, Allen more than doubled her scoring output in 2013-14, averaging 10.0 points per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the floor. She also increased her rebounding average from 5.2 to 8.8 per game.

Following the season, she was named second-team All-Panhandle Conference by league coaches.

High Point, an NCAA Division I program located in High Point, N.C., competes in the Big South Conference.
