MARIANNA, Fla. (November 8, 2013) - The Tallahassee Community College women, on Friday, squeaked out an upset win against Darton (Ga.) State College in game one of the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report Classic, 75-72.

The Eagles came into Friday's game in Marianna, Fla. with a record of 1-1, ranked No.7 in the Florida College System Activities Association's (FCSAA) Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll. The Lady Cavaliers of Darton State came in ranked No. 10 in the country.

This game was a nail-biter until the final whistle. Neither team could gain an advantage as the scores on each side of the scoreboard nearly mirrored each other. The Eagles held a small lead at halftime by a score of 32-28.

This was Addesha Collins's night to shine as she was Tallahassee's leading scorer at halftime with 13 points. She continued to shoot lights out in the second half as well, finishing with 27 points, along with six assists, six steals and only one turnover.

Tyeshia Guinnie also had a stellar performance. She came up big for her team down the stretch. Guinnie more than doubled her point total from the first half, putting up 14 in the second half to finish with a strong 20-point effort.

Marija Pacar also had a solid game, finishing with 11 points.

Two players for Darton State also had 20-point games, however it was not enough to avoid the upset.

Before the season started, Coach "Q" Bedell said he wanted to change the culture and mindset of the Eagles' program. He wanted his players to have a championship caliber mentality – a champion can step up when needed and defeat a quality opponent.

The Eagles did just that today, upsetting the No. 10 team in the country and improving to 2-1 on the season.

The Eagles' second game of the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report Classic is against Santa Fe College. The Saints are ranked No. 9 in the FCSAA. This will be the first of three matchups between these two teams this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m. eastern.
