TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  (November 15, 2013) —The Tallahassee Community College women’s basketball team will look to get back on the winning track when it travels to Phenix City, Ala., for a 2 p.m. eastern date with Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College on Saturday.

Tallahassee suffered its second loss of the season Monday at the hands of Florida State College at Jacksonville. The loss came in front of a home crowd that gathered together to show support and gratitude for former and current servicemen and servicewomen on Veteran’s Day.

After being down 39-22 at halftime, the tough never-say-never mentality that the veterans exuded throughout the building must have lit a fire in the Eagles because they pulled within three points during the closing seconds of the game. Unfortunately, the support of the troops in addition to the enthusiastic cheers of the TCC men’s basketball team wasn’t enough to push the women over the hump.

The Tallahassee women look to take that surge of momentum from their last outing and exert it towards a fourth win at Chattahoochee Valley. The game will be played on CVCC’s campus in Phenix City, Ala.

The last time these two teams clashed was back in 2006 when Tallahassee handed the CVCC Pirates a 76-65 loss. That win increased Tallahassee’s series lead to 2-1.

Chattahoochee Valley is currently 2-0 with both wins coming against Atlanta (Ga.) Metro College.

Having not played since Veteran’s day, The Eagles should be well rested and ready to take on the Lady Pirates and third-year coach Trelanne Moore. Coach Moore and Eagles Coach Franqua “Q” Bedell will battle it out in a match of wits while their players put their physical talents against one another on the court.

Another key factor in the outcome may have to do with Eagle freshman Adriana Blackmon. The 5-foot-9 guard sat out Tallahassee’s game against Florida State College with a concussion and her status for Saturday is unknown. The Eagles only dressed seven players against Florida State College and the return of Blackmon could be a big boost.
