TCC’s Tyeshia Guinnie enrolls at Mississippi Valley State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 29, 2014) – Former Tallahassee Community College women's basketball standout Tyeshia Guinnie has enrolled at Mississippi Valley State University and joined the Delta Devilettes' basketball program, according to Tallahassee head coach Franqua Bedell.

Guinnie, a Tallahassee native and former prep star at Rickards High School, played in 50 games with the Eagles from 2012 to 2014 and was a key contributor on Bedell's inaugural Tallahassee squad this past season.

After averaging 3.9 points in 21 games as a freshman, Guinnie more than tripled her scoring output in 2013-14, posting 12.4 points per game, second-best on the Eagles' roster. She also averaged 3.3 rebounds and shot a team-high 32.8 percent from long distance en route to earning second-team All-Panhandle Conference honors.

Mississippi Valley State, an NCAA Division I program, is located in Itta Bena, Miss., and competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Guinnie is the College's 31st and final student-athlete from the 2013-14 season to sign a national letter of intent with a four-year institution. Two other student-athletes have transferred to four-year programs and will participate as walk-ons.
