Eagle women victorious in season opener

WADLEY, Ala. (November 1, 2014) – Sophomore transfer Jeremica Edwards scored a team-high 15 points and nine other players got into the scorebook for FCSAA No. 4 Tallahassee Community College in an 80-42 win over Southern Union State (Ala.) Community College in Saturday's 2014-15 season opener.

Edwards, who transferred to Tallahassee after playing her freshman season at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, led a balanced attack for the Eagles, who also got 13 points from freshman Eboni Watts and 11 from sophomore Cat Wells.

Tallahassee dominated the game on both ends of the floor.

The Eagles shot 50.0 percent from the floor, hitting 32 of their 64 field goal attempts. Conversely, the Bison only hit 11-of-67 shots (16.4 percent) on the afternoon.

Tallahassee also dominated the boards to the tune of a 48-21 advantage in rebounds.

The Eagles put 45 points on the board during the opening 20 minutes and enjoyed a 20-point lead (45-25) at the intermission.

Although Tallahassee only had three players reach double-figures, seven others made their way into the scoring column, led by Karley Barnes and Aiyannah Peal, who had seven points each.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, November 8 for their home opener against St. Petersburg College. Game time will be 4 p.m.
