Wells, Eagles rout St. Petersburg in home opener

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 8, 2014) –The FCSAA fourth-ranked Tallahassee Community College women's basketball team opened the 2014-15 home season with a 94-59 win against No. 6 St. Petersburg College.

Early on, both teams endured some struggles on the offensive end. Finally, it was Tallahassee's Marija Pacar who made three out of four three-pointers which contributed to the Eagles' 37-29 halftime lead. 

St. Petersburg struggled to trim the lead throughout the second half with four players having four or more personal fouls – starting guard Tia Williams fouled out. 

Williams along with Melsheree Reid were the leading scorers for the Titans with 11 points each. 

Meanwhile, Tallahassee enjoyed a 57-point half over the final 20 minutes to pull away for the 35-point victory. 

Cat Wells had the biggest night for the Eagles, winning game ball honors with 20 points and 5 assists. She was 8-of-13 from the free throw line. 

Tallahassee head coach Franqua Bedell expressed his opinion about the women's performance stating, "they played the way we want to play basketball." 

Tallahassee hosts the Veterans Day Classic on Tuesday and will play the College of Central Florida at 6 p.m. Prior to the Eagles-Patriots tilt, the Bill Hebrock Eagledome will host a pair of high school games. 

Rickards and East Gadsden will tip things off at 2 p.m. followed by Godby and Florida High at 4 p.m.
