Eagle women down Andrew for fifth victory

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 15, 2014) - Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team defeated Andrew (Ga.) College 74-47 in the last day of the Applebee's Women's Basketball Classic. The Eagles are now 5-0. 

Initially, both teams appeared evenly matched, but the Eagles began to find their rhythm as the first half wound down and took a 39-20 lead to the locker room. 

Jeremeica Edwards and Karley Barnes combined for 23 points in the first half.   

The Eagles continued to dominate throughout the second half, most notably on the defensive end. Tallahassee forced 34 turnovers in the game which resulted in 34 points. 

Edwards and Wendion Bibbins dominated the boards combining for 12 of the Eagles' 16 offensive rebounds. 

Edwards played an impressive all-around game with a total 22 points and 8 rebounds. 

Andrew's Amber Bowen scored 17 points to lead the Fighting Tigers. Chelsea McIntyre also contributed with 18 total rebounds. 

The win was Tallahassee head coach Franqua Bedell's 50th NJCAA win as a head coach. 

The Eagles hope to continue their winning streak next week taking on Santa Fe College at home Tuesday, November 18 at 6 p.m.
