Eagles suffer first loss of season 70-65

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 18, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team lost its first game of the season on Tuesday night to Santa Fe College 70-65.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 13-point lead with seven minutes left in the first half but entered halftime leading by only five (40-35). They were unable to maintain the lead in the second half being outscored by Santa Fe, 35-25.  As a team, the Eagles shot 25 percent for the night and 16 percent in the second half on 7 for 43 from the floor.

Santa Fe enjoyed a 16-point advantage at the free throw line, alhtought it made only 31 of its 53 attempts. Conversely, Tallahassee was only 15-of-23 from the charity stripe.

Despite their shooting woes the Eagles had four players score in double digits.  Cat Wells led the team with 17 points while pulling down a team-leading nine boards and recording two steals.  

Jeremica Edwards scored 13 points, Eboni Watts 11 and Benedicta Makakala 10.

Tallahassee will travel to Decatur, Ga., on Saturday for an 11 a.m. date with Georgia Perimeter College then return home to host the Capital Courtyard Classic November 25-27.
