Eagles hit the road for final games before break

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 11, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College's men's and women's basketball teams are set to embark on a full slate of games leading up to the winter break, which begins at the College on December 19.

After final exams conclude on Friday, both teams will hit the road to resume what has, to date, been a highly successful season.

The Eagle women, ranked No. 5 in the FCSAA Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll and No. 14 nationally, play five games in seven games beginning at 7 p.m. Friday against St. Petersburg College in day one of the SPC Lady Titan Tourney. Tallahassee will be looking to complete a sweep of the teams' home-and-home series after winning 94-59 on November 8.

Tallahassee will turn around and face FCSAA No. 10 Miami Dade College at noon Saturday.

After a day off, the Eagles will hit the road Monday for a 5 p.m. game at FCSAA No. 7 Daytona State College, another team Tallahassee defeated en route to its 9-2 record. The Eagles defeated the Falcons, 65-54, in Tallahassee on November 26 in the Capital Courtyard Classic.

Tallahassee will take Tuesday off then play a pair of games in Niceville, Fla., at the Northwest Florida State College Winter Classic. The Eagles are scheduled to play Bishop (Ala.) State Community College at 2:30 p.m. eastern Wednesday and Snead (Ala.) State Community College at 2:30 p.m. eastern Thursday.

For the Eagle men, the upcoming schedule is a story of quantity vs. quality. Tallahassee has only three games through Wednesday, but two are against teams ranked immediately behind the No. 2 Eagles in the FCSAA Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll.

Tallahassee travels to Ocala, Fla., for a pair of games in the annual Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout beginning with Saturday's 2 p.m. tilt against State College of Florida. It's Sunday's game, however, that's getting a lot of attention heading into this weekend's 13th annual event – a 4 p.m. showdown against FCSAA No. 3 Eastern Florida State College.

The game took on even greater significance after the NJCAA poll was released Tuesday. While Tallahassee moved up three spots to No. 11, Eastern Florida State cracked the poll for the first time this season at No. 24, making it the only game of the weekend to feature a pair of nationally-ranked teams.

The Eagles' final game before the break is at 4 p.m. Wednesday at FCSAA No. 4 St. Petersburg College.

Tallahassee is currently 11-1, its best start since opening the season 14-1 in 2007-08.
