Shelton State hands Eagle women first loss

ROME, Ga. (November 13, 2015) – Shelton (Ala.) State Community College defeated NJCAA Region 8 No. 4 Tallahassee Community College, 84-70, on Friday in action at the GHC Classic. 

Shelton State (3-0) remained unbeaten on the still young season while Tallahassee (3-1) suffered its first loss in four games. 

Tallahassee trailed throughout and found itself in a 24-14 hole after the first quarter. The Eagles managed to chip only one point off the Buccaneers' lead by intermission and went to the locker room facing a 39-30 deficit. 

Shelton State won the third quarter, 26-22, and outscored the Eagles in the fourth, 19-18. 

Three players scored in double-figures for Tallahassee, led by Sabrina Banks' 23 points. Eboni Watts' added 19 points and Lindsey John scored 11 in her collegiate debut. 

Tallahassee will continue play at 2 p.m. Saturday against host Georgia Highlands College.
