Eagle women down Panola for fourth straight win
ATHENS, Texas (November 27, 2015) – NJCAA Region 8 No. 7 Tallahassee Community College won its fourth straight game on Friday, defeating Panola (Texas) College, 71-55, on the opening day of play at the Budke/Serna Classic hosted by Trinity Valley Community College.
Tallahassee will take a 7-3 record into Saturday's 11 a.m. eastern tip against San Jacinto (Texas) College-North.
The Eagles led at the end of each quarter but it was a 29-point fourth quarter that finally put away the Ponies (4-5) on Friday.
Sabrina Banks scored 11 of her 19 points in the decisive fourth quarter as Tallahassee outscored Panola, 29-19.
Tallahassee led 15-14 after one quarter, extended its lead to three (26-23) at the half then doubled it to six (42-36) after three quarters.
Five unanswered points in the opening half minute of the fourth – a free throw by Destoni Willock and consecutive baskets by Banks – pushed the Eagles' lead to 47-36. By the six-minute mark, the advantage was 15 (55-40) and Tallahassee cruised home from there.
Banks pulled down 10 rebounds to record her fourth double-double in the last five games.
Lawriell Wilson led the Eagles with 21 points.
