Eagles falter down the stretch in loss to Northwest Florida State

NICEVILLE, Fla. (January 16, 2016) – Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team couldn't protect a fourth quarter lead and dropped a 70-64 decision to Northwest Florida State College on Saturday evening.

With the win, Northwest Florida State took over sole possession of third place in the league standings at 2-2. Tallahassee is now 1-3 in PC play.

The Eagles erased a seven-point deficit with a 10-0 run to end the third quarter then took a 53-49 lead on Eboni Watts' basket less than a half minute into the fourth. But Northwest Florida State answered and forced ties of 53- and 55-all, the latter coming at the 5:58 mark.

The Raiders continued their surge, outscoring Tallahassee 10-3 over the next 3:34 to seize control.

Watts finished with a game-high 26 points to lead the Eagles. She was joined in double-figures by Lawriell Wilson, who scored 14.

Northwest Florida State led 18-15 after the first quarter and 33-29 at the half, but Tallahassee turned the tide with a 22-13 third quarter.

Round two of Panhandle Conference play begins Tuesday night when the Eagles host Gulf Coast State College at 5:30 p.m.
