Eagles’ season ends with playoff loss to NWF State

MARIANNA, Fla. (February 24, 2016) – Consider it a case of déjà vu. For the second straight season, Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team saw its season end in a playoff loss.

Tuesday evening, the Eagles fell to Northwest Florida State College, 72-63, in a neutral-site game played at Chipola College.

Tallahassee ends its season at 15-15.

The game mirrored Saturday's loss at Northwest Florida State, a game in which Tallahassee could've won and wrapped up a postseason bid.

Tonight, the Eagles led 13-10 after one quarter and extended its lead to 30-24 at the half.

Three nights ago, Northwest Florida State erased an 11-point halftime deficit with a big third quarter. On Tuesday, the Raiders used a 28-14 third quarter advantage to flip the momentum and grab a 52-44 lead heading to the fourth.

After trailing by as many as 11 early in the fourth, Tallahassee cut the Raiders' lead to six, 64-58, with 2:00 left. Turnovers on consecutive possessions ensued, however, leading to four unanswered points by Northwest Florida State that all but sealed the Eagles' fate.

The Eagles struggled to put the ball in the basket on Tuesday, both from the floor and the foul line. Tallahassee shot just 35.8 percent (24-of-67) from the field and 11-of-22 from the free throw line, including 8-of-18 in the second half.

Lawriell Wilson scored 17 points to lead Tallahassee. Monique Calliste came off the bench to score 14. Sabrina Banks added 10 before fouling out with 5:07 left in the game.
