#TCCBasketball: Eagle women fall at Chipola

MARIANNA, Fla. (February 18, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team fell to Chipola College on Saturday evening, 88-76, in Panhandle Conference action.

With the loss, NJCAA No. 8/Region 8 No. 3 Tallahassee (21-6, 6-5 PC) fell 1.5 games back of No. 7/No. 2 Chipola (7-3) in the battle for second place in the PC standings. With the win, Chipola also holds the head-to-head tie-breaker with the Eagles.

Things looked good for Tallahassee for much of the first half.

The Eagles led 20-15 after one quarter, scored the first six points of the second and eventually led as many as 14. The lead remained 14, 44-30, with 2:43 left in the half, but Chipola scored the next 13 points and trailed just 44-43 at the intermission.

Foul trouble became the theme for Tallahassee in the third quarter.

Lindsay John fouled out and both Lawriell Wilson and Jas Hill picked up their fourth fouls. Chipola took advantage, outscoring the Eagles 24-17 and led 67-61 entering the fourth quarter.

Japonica James scored the first basket of the fourth to bring Tallahassee within four but that's as close as it got the rest of the way.

James finished with 29 points and 14 rebounds to lead Tallahassee. Wilson added 17, becoming just the second female player in school history to eclipse 1,000 career points.

Tallahassee will close the regular season one week from tonight when it hosts Northwest Florida State College.
