#TCCBasketball: Hill, Perry lead Eagles past Monroe

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 28, 2017) – NJCAA No. 4/Region 8 No. 2 Tallahassee Community College picked up where it left off prior to the Christmas break, defeating Monroe (N.Y.) College, 93-59, in day one action at the Tallahassee Democrat Holiday Classic.

Tallahassee improved its record to a perfect 14-0 heading into Friday's non-conference finale against Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College.

The Eagles wasted little time taking control on Thursday, jumping out to a 10-0 lead four minutes into the game. Later in the quarter, an 8-0 burst pushed the lead to 22-5, and Tallahassee eventually led 26-6 at the quarter break – the 17th time the Eagles have held an opponent to single digits in a quarter this season.

Monroe, who returned six players from last year's NJCAA Tournament squad, played much better in the second quarter, scoring 24 points. The Mustangs, however, could only shave two points off the Eagles' lead.

Jada Perry scored 11 points in the quarter for Tallahassee, and the Eagles led 48-30 at the break.

Perry didn't miss a field goal attempt all night, finishing 8-for-8 and scoring 18 points off the bench, keying a 37-23 advantage for the Eagles' reserves.

Tallahassee led 66-42 after three quarters and extended the margin to as many as 37 (93-56) late in the fourth.

Jas Hill scored 30 points and is now the nation's leading scorer at 24.9 points per game. It was her sixth career 30-point game.

Jamyra McChristine added a double-double, 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Tallahassee and Chattahoochee Valley will tip off at 3 p.m. Friday.

In Thursday's other women's game, Northwest Florida State College defeated Chattahoochee Valley, 61-38.
