#TCCBasketball: Bradford leads Eagles past Pirates

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 2, 2019) – Daisha Bradford scored 20 points to lead four players in double-figures as NJCAA No. 11/Region 8 No. 4 Tallahassee Community College defeated Region 8 No. 7 Pensacola State College, 88-65, in women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

Tallahassee (21-4, 3-4 Panhandle Conference) is now one game back of third-place Chipola College (4-3) following the Indians' loss to Gulf Coast State College on Saturday evening. 

Bradford hit 7-of-9 shots from the field, including both of her three-point attempts, and 4-of-6 free throws and was also credited with four rebounds, four assists and five steals. She was joined in double-figures by Jamyra McChristine with 16 points, Juliunn Redmond with 15 and Victoria Pearce, 13. 

The first quarter featured seven ties and six lead changes. Bradford accounted for the final lead change of the quarter – and game – with a pair of free throws in the final seconds of the quarter to give Tallahassee a 19-18 lead. 

Two minutes into the second, the lead was still one when the Eagles finally got some separation. 

Bradford hit a three and Nesma Khalifa knocked one down from the top of the key on the Eagles' ensuing possession to ignite a 10-0 run, resulting in a 31-20 lead at the 5:48 mark. Tallahassee led 36-28 at the half. 

The Eagles blew the game wide open with a 29-17 advantage in the third quarter. They hit 13-of-19 field goals attempts (68.4 percent) in the quarter, part of a 21-for-35 effort in the second half. 

Defensively, Tallahassee limited Pensacola State to 33.3 percent shooting (20-of-60) for the game. The defensive effort was aided by a school-record 16 blocked shots, including nine by Jada Perry, which equaled the Eagles' single-game record. EdMarie Lumbsley blocked nine shots against Chipola on February 23, 2000. 

Tallahassee will travel to Northwest Florida State College on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. eastern game with the Raiders.
