Juliunn Redmond named PC Player of the Year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 27, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's Juliunn Redmond has been named the Panhandle Conference Player of the Year, as voted on by the league's women's basketball coaches. 

Redmond, a sophomore guard from Chicago, Ill., is just the third Eagle to claim the Panhandle's top honor, joining Shamar Harris, who accomplished the feat in 2008, and Lawriell Wilson, who was the PC Player of the Year in 2017. 

"I'm so happy for this young lady who has been the consummate team player," said Tallahassee head coach Franqua "Q" Bedell. "She has done whatever it takes for this team to win – play the point, play the post, and it shows her versatility not only as a player, but as a leader. 

"We wouldn't be where we are without her." 

As a freshman, Redmond played a key role in Tallahassee's run to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship. She elevated her game even more as a sophomore, averaging 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 68.9 percent from the free throw line – all while playing a team-high 30 minutes per game. 

Redmond was joined on the All-Panhandle Conference first-team by freshman guard Daisha Bradford. 

A native of Mobile, Ala., Bradford leads the Eagles in scoring at 17.2 points per game. She has also averaged 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 29 games. 

Sophomore forwards Jada Perry and Jamyra McChristine were named to the all-conference second-team. 

Perry, a native of Lady Lake, Fla., has averaged 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.8 blocks in 29 games. 

McChristine, a native of Chicago, Ill, has appeared in 23 games and averaged a team-high 7.3 rebounds while also posting 10.2 points and 1.7 steals per game.
