#TCCXCTF enjoys successful FAMU Relays debut

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 16, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's track team participated in its first major event this weekend and didn't have far to go to do so, traveling cross-town to the prestigious FAMU Relays.

Eight runners participated in the 67th edition of the Rattlers' signature event. Highlighting the Eagles' day were wins in the women's 800m and the men's sprint medley relay.

Mia Wiederkehr recorded the Eagles' first-ever individual win with an impressive 800m run. After letting the field set the pace in the first 400m, Wiederkehr blew past the competition on the second lap – thanks to a negative split (1:12 over the final 400m) – and posted a time of 2:25.58.

In its final event of the day, Tallahassee posted a win in the seldom-run 1600 sprint medley relay. Jovanny Valdez, Mekhi Reynolds, Khalil Randell and Gannon Hundley ran the 200, 200, 400 and 800 legs, respectively, in a time of 3:56.12.
