#TCCXCTF: Eagles close season at NTC Spring Invite
CLERMONT, Fla. (April 20, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's inaugural track season came to a close on Saturday at the PURE Athletics/NTC Spring Invite.
Head coach Gary Droze and six of his runners traveled to the National Training Center's Track & Field Complex and competed against elite competition in the open event.
What the Eagles may have been lacking in quantity – both in numbers and total events – was offset in quality. Three of the team's six events resulted in school records and more than a half dozen personal-best times were registered.
In the women's 400m, Mia Wiederkehr lowered her previous-best time to a school record of 1:01.69 while Genevieve Printiss PR'd with a time of 1:05.86.
The duo also ran the women's 800m, the event in which Wiederkehr has already qualified for nationals. She ran a 2:26.86 while Printiss competed in the event for the first time, establishing her PR of 2:27.38.
Among the male runners, Jovanny Valdez had a banner day, setting school records in the 100m (10.85) and 200m (22.03).
In the 200m, Valdez won his heat and finished 22nd overall while Mekhi Reynolds' time of 22.43 was a PR and faster than his previous school-record time of 22.47.
Reynolds also ran the 400m and finished 12th in 52.48.
Valdez was joined in the 100m by Antonio Williams, who posted a personal-best time of 12.65.
Gannon Hundley's only event of the day was the 800m and he finished in 2:11.10.
