#TCCWXC ready for FSU Invite debut

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 6, 2016) – One of Tallahassee's premier cross country events is ready to welcome a new participant.

At 8:20 a.m. Friday morning, Tallahassee Community College's women's cross country team will run in the prestigious FSU Invitational for the first time. The 5K race will take place at Apalachee Regional Park and is part of an event that includes races for middle school, high school and college runners.

The Eagles are in the midst of a busy stretch leading up to November's postseason meets.

After running in Gulf Winds Track Club's Prefontaine Forest Run 5K on September, Tallahassee took first place in the Chipola College XC Invite last Friday, knocking off the host Indians in a dual meet.

Freshman Samantha Reilly once again paced the Eagles, running the three-mile course in 21:01.38. In fact, all eight runners ran solid times, helping Tallahassee to a 26-point total, five better than its arch rivals.

Tallahassee and Chipola will run in the same event for the third time on Friday and are among 18 women's teams slated for the event. The race will be scored separately for University (Division I) and College (all other) division.

Friday also offers Tallahassee an opportunity to run on the course that will host next month's inaugural NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Cross Country Championships.
