#TCCXC: Eagle women cruise at Chipola Invite

MARIANNA, Fla. (October 14, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's women's cross country team ran at the Chipola College Invitational on Saturday, the team's last tune-up prior to the NJCAA District/FCSAA State Championship on October 28. 

The Eagles, the lone school to score points as a team, walked away with the first place trophy in the event for a second straight year. 

Individually, Meagan Giddens posted a 21:49.18 in the 5000-meter race to claim first place, finishing as the team's top runner for the fifth consecutive event. 

Alexis McElroy led a sweep of third through sixth place for the Eagles. She ran a 23:54.16, lowering her previous-best time by 49 seconds. 

For the fifth consecutive event, Rachel Williams, who finished fourth, lowered her time, improving by seven seconds to finish in 24:32.60. 

Olnick Duverge crossed in fifth place in a time of 25:28.13. 

Ashley Maxwell, who finished sixth, saw the biggest improvement on the team on Saturday. Finishing in 25:48.54, she lowered her previous-best time by 2:26. 

Tallahassee will be joined by four other teams at Apalachee Regional Park on October 28 for the state championship 5K. 

The Eagle men will close its inaugural season immediately following the women's state championship race by participating in the Sustainable Tallahassee Trash Dash 5K.
