2023-24 TCC Athletics Internship Opportunities

Sports Information Internship

The Sport Information intern will work alongside the Assistant for Athletics and Communication to keep game records and statistics, create written and visual content for the Athletics website, and assist the media in their coverage of TCC Athletics. Sports Information interns will assist with all communication aspects within the department. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write articles for the website, including game previews and recaps, player and coach features.
  • Assist in writing press releases.  
  • Manage and record in-game statistics and regularly update record books. 
  • Assist in maintaining all other content on the website, including player and coach bios, photo galleries, rosters, and schedules. 
  • Assist members of the media in conducting interviews with TCC coaches and student athletes.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work long hours, nights and weekends. 
  • Student seeking internship class credit.
  • Flexible - able to work well in a busy environment and adapt well to different circumstances. 
  • Excellent writing skills with good attention to detail. 
  • Knowledge of sports and statistics preferred.

Marketing and Promotions Internship

The Marketing and Promotions Intern will assist in marketing, promotions and game day operations for Tallahassee Community College athletic events. This includes overseeing in-game promotions; on-campus tabling to distribute posters, schedules, and other promotional materials to increase awareness and fan engagement. The Marketing and Promotions Intern will work alongside the Assistant for Athletics and Communication, the Athletics and Campus Recreation Manager, and other interns/part-time employees that work in gameday operations or social media.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Athletics and Campus Recreation Manager to build relationships with local businesses interested in supporting TCC Athletics.
  • Work alongside the Assistant for Athletics and Communication to develop marketing plans on social media and on the Athletics website to promote TCC’s teams and student athletes and improve fan engagement.
  • Plan and oversee in-game promotions, performances, and work with external organizations that are involved with TCC Athletics.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work long hours which includes nights and weekends.
  • Student looking for internship credit.
  • Must have transportation to and from games.
  • Creativity and flexibility.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Lead the development of the social media presence.

Social Media Internship

The social media intern is responsible for creating content for the Athletic Department’s social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook). They will work alongside the Assistant for Athletics and Communication to create and execute a plan to grow and improve the TCC Athletic Department’s social media presence. As a social media intern, the candidate will create graphics to highlight all of our teams and the success of our student athletes. Creative skills, such as video editing and photography, are highly appreciated but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategize a smart posting plan to keep our fans informed and engaged.
  • Post creative content that highlights the successes of our teams and student athletes.
  • Create necessary graphics for the department, administering equal content between different sports.
  • Work with the teams to create content geared towards each sport.
  • Updating social media with in-game scores.

Qualifications

  • Must have reasonable transportation to and from work.
  • Creativity and the ability to think outside of the box.
  • Some knowledge in graphic design and content creation with the willingness to continue learning.
  • Students seeking internship credit.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Excellent writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Students with a passion for sports and the sports industry are preferred.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.

Academic Advising Internship

The academic advising intern will assist our Academic Advisor in all areas regarding the SA academic wellbeing.  The intern will assume daily reasonability regarding the student athlete academic process and progress along with any other duties assigned by the Academic Advisor. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Student Athlete Academic Advisor with Student Athlete Course Registration
  • Assist Academic Advisor with SA Fall 2023 course(s) audit
  • Develop Summer Academic Plans for student athletes that need to take summer courses to graduate
  • Track and trace sophomore student athlete graduation progress/requirements (academic completion; Spring 2024 graduation ceremony participation requirements
  • Show SA how to navigate their degree audit and read their transcript

Qualifications

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Student seeking internship credit
  • Know how to reading and understand transcripts 
  • Excellent with Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written skills
  • Flexible with work hours
