Ashley Johnson (nee Walker) joined the TCC Athletics staff as the Athletics and Campus Recreation Manager in August 2022. Before arriving at TCC, she spent the last five years as the head women's basketball coach at Mississippi Valley State University.

Johnson recruited and coached second-team All-SWAC player Lakendra Bassett to Mississippi Valley State. Johnson ranks third in program history for all-time seasons coached and fourth in all-time wins.

Prior to her arrival in Itta Bena, Johnson served as the head coach NAIA Wiley College (2015-17). Over two seasons, she went 39-17. She holds the second-best winning percentage in program history.

During her time at Wiley, two of her student-athletes were named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars, one was named an NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete, nine players received Red River Athletic Conference All-Conference honors, and for the 2015-16 season, Ty Colquitt was named Freshman of the Year.

Prior to Wiley, Johnson served as an assistant coach at South Carolina State University (2012-15). While at South Carolina State she was the recruiting coordinator, oversaw development of post players, defensive implementation, and travel coordinator. The Bulldogs compiled a 43-41 record while she was on staff, and she coached three players who received all-conference honors. One of those players was Kourtney Williams who received All-MEAC honors twice and finished her career as the seventh all-time leading scorer in program history.

Her first coaching job came as an assistant at her alma mater, NJCAA Angelina College (2005-12). She was responsible for implementing offseason workouts, development of post players, and she served as the team's recruiting coordinator, academic advisor, and travel coordinator. She coached three NJCAA All-Americans and two WBCA All-Americans. Two of her players were named Freshman of the Year at Angelina. During the 2009-10 season, the team set the program record for wins (26).

Johnson, a Bryan, Texas native, played two years at Angelina College after graduating Bryan High School as a highly sought-after recruit. In the 1999-2000 season, she was part of the team that broke the program record for wins in a season as her team finished 24-7. She then transferred to Texas Wesleyan University, which was in the Red River Athletic Conference, where she played for another two seasons before receiving her Bachelor of Science in exercise of sports studies in 2005.
