Bio

Chris Lucas is entering his first season as an assistant under Coach Gary Droze.

An avid track runner since the age of 11, Lucas was a member of the Tallahassee Trailblazers and Tallahassee Zoom Track Clubs earning multiple slots in AAU and USATF Outdoor Junior Olympic Games. In Middle School he represented North Florida Christian School (NFC) at the 2013 Panhandle Region Championships placing 1st in the 800 meters. In high school he competed for NFC in District and Regional Qualifiers in various 400 and 4x100 meter events, and represented the Eagles at the 2013 Cross Country State Championships. He was also a member of the Chiles High School 2014 and 2015 Cross Country and Track and Field State Championship Teams.

Due to his passion for Track and Field Lucas served as a volunteer writer for the Florida Milesplit Website from 2016-2019 where he reported on numerous Track Meets and interviewed multiple high school athletes ranked among the best in the nation. 

A 2017 graduate of North Florida Christian, Lucas went on to compete as a student athlete at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa where he proudly served as a member of the 2021 Outdoor Men’s Track & Field DIII National Championship Team. Lucas graduated from Wartburg in May 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Communications. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sports Management at Florida A&M University.
