Frank Ambrose, Head Trainer
Frank Ambrose served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Tallahassee Community College for ten years. Ambrose, who was employed by Tallahassee Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Clinic, was in charge of the training program for the Eagles' student-athletes.
While specific duties included injury care and prevention, he also coordinated rehabilitation programs. Additionally, he was responsible for the recruitment of student trainers who worked with the TCC athletic department.
Ambrose came to TCC after graduating from Florida State University with a degree in physical education. From 1986 to 1988, Ambrose worked as a trainer with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts during their summer preseason camps. He also spent time as a student trainer at FSU.
Ambrose earned his master's degree in sport administration from FSU in 2001.
Dr. James H. Hinson, Jr., TCC President
Dr. James H. Hinson, Jr., was named the third president of Tallahassee Community College in 1983. During his tenure, TCC received the best legislative funding support in the College's history. Facility additions, including state-of-the-art science labs and a new library, were a major part of Dr. Hinson's twelve years at the college. Another addition was a new administration building, which now bears his name.
In 1990, Dr. Hinson reestablished the Eagles' athletic program, ending a 20-year absence. In the four years he oversaw the Eagles' athletic programs, 55 student-athletes continued their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions. He was also responsible for renovating and expanding the athletic facilities.
In 2000, Dr. Hinson was inducted into the Florida Community College Activities Association Hall of Fame. The inductees were selected by their peers for outstanding contributions and dedicated service made to the FCCAA and its member colleges. Prior to becoming President of TCC, Dr. Hinson was Chancellor of the Virginia Community College System.
He retired from TCC in 1995.
Windy Taff Jones, Softball
Windy Taff Jones, a native of nearby Wakulla, Florida, was a member of the Tallahassee Community College softball team from 1993-95. She signed with the Eagles following a standout prep career at Wakulla High School, where she was the 1993 Big Bend Player of the Year. As a freshman at TCC, Taff was the starting right fielder on the Eagles' 1994 National Championship team. As a sophomore, she earned second-team All-Panhandle Conference honors and was named the team's Best Defensive Player.
Taff finished her softball career at Florida State University, where she played from 1995-97. She received her bachelor's degree in physical education from FSU in 1998. Taff is currently the head softball coach at Tallahassee's Leon High School, where she has built one of the state's top programs. Entering her fifth season, she has an outstanding record of 109-12. She is a two-time Big Bend Coach of the Year and , in 2001, was named the 5A Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year.
Eddie Zaremba, Baseball
Eddie Zaremba was a member of the Tallahassee Community College baseball team when the program was reestablished in 1990. He made the team as a walk-on as a freshman and earned a scholarship the following season.
A two-year starter, Zaremba was the first Eagle to earn All-State honors after batting .380 with 50 RBI in 1992. Those numbers also landed him a spot on the All-Panhandle Conference team. Following his sophomore season, he was selected to the Florida Community College Activities Association All-Star squad.
Following graduation from TCC, he transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi, where he played for one season.
Zaremba is the founder and owner of Trizen Systems, a technology company in Orlando, Florida, and is a corporate sponsor of Eagle Athletics.
