TCC student-athletes earn FCSAA, PC all-academic honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (June 26, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's academic all-stars have been recognized by both the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) and Panhandle Conference (PC). 

On Monday, a total of 35 student-athletes earned all-academic honors by the FCSAA and/or PC.    

Twenty-three student-athletes were named to the FCSAA's All-Academic Team for having attained a minimum 3.30 GPA, either during the current academic year or over multiple years. 

The 23 FCSAA honorees were joined by 12 additional individuals to give the Eagles 35 representatives on the Panhandle Conference All-Academic Team. 

To earn all-conference recognition, student-athletes attained a minimum 3.0 GPA, either during the current academic year or over multiple years. 

Tallahassee's softball team led the way in all-academic selections. In fact, all 15 members of the Eagles' squad were named PC All-Academic while 11 earned FCSAA All-Academic honors. 

Eight student-athletes – softball's Brooke Bates, Elisa Cecchetti, Casey Durham, Raya Moncus and Alyssa NeSmith, baseball's Nick Marchese and Octavio Marin, and women's basketball's Rosanna Jenije (at Indian River State College) – made the FCSAA honor roll for the second straight season. 

Nine student-athletes earned All-PC recognition for a second time. 

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) will be the next group to release its student-athlete academic awards.
