TCC Athletics launches Drills and Skills video series

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 3, 2021) – To continue its community-focused efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tallahassee Community College Athletics Department has launched a Drills and Skills video series.

The videos include instructional workouts for elementary school students and feature student-athletes from each of the Eagles' eight NJCAA teams.

In addition to teaching some of the fundamentals of basketball, baseball, softball and running, the Eagles' student-athletes share some fun facts about themselves to provide inspiration to young, aspiring athletes.

To date, the videos have been shared with Sabal Palm, Pineview and Kate Sullivan Elementary Schools, but are available to the public on YouTube

Brittany Christie, athletics assistant, developed the concept and enlisted the help of TCC22 to produce the videos.

"Our student-athletes enjoy giving back and connecting with members of the local community," said Christie, who played basketball at TCC from 2007-09. "Unfortunately, the pandemic shut down many in-person volunteer opportunities. With our student-athletes eager to engage with the community during the pandemic, Drills and Skills allowed them to do just that, and we're very proud of their enthusiasm to make an impact on young lives."

In addition to the Drills and Skills initiative, TCC Athletics recently partnered with Sabal Palm during January's annual Literacy Week celebration and participated in a virtual event, where student-athletes read favorite books of Sabal Palm students.
