Eagle men jump to No. 4 in FCSAA poll

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 18, 2013) – On Tuesday, the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) released its final men’s and women’s basketball coaches’ poll before the start of conference play in January, and Tallahassee Community College’s men’s basketball team jumped three spots to No. 4. 

The Eagles, who defeated St. Petersburg College on Tuesday, have won five straight games and sit at 10-4 overall. 

Tallahassee and No. 5 Daytona State College both jumped three spots in the rankings and sit behind No. 1 Chipola College, No. 2 Northwest Florida State College and No. 3 College of Central Florida. 

The second five, in order, consists of Santa Fe College, Eastern Florida State College, Pensacola State College, Indian River State College and Palm Beach State College. 

Tallahassee also made a jump in the women’s poll, moving up two spots to No. 7. The Eagles, currently 7-8, narrowly missed on an upset of No. 4 St. Petersburg College on Tuesday, but received credit of a win over then-No. 8 Central Florida on December 14 at the Pensacola State College Classic. 

The top three in the poll remained intact – Gulf Coast State College, Chipola and Palm Beach State College. 

Northwest Florida State is ranked No. 5 and Florida State College at Jacksonville leads the second half of the poll at No. 6. 

Behind Tallahassee is Hillsborough Community College, Pensacola State and Santa Fe.
