Eagle men tumble in FCSAA rankings; women hold firm at No. 7

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 14, 2014) – After an 0-3 start to Panhandle Conference play, Tallahassee Community College’s men’s basketball team tumbled five spots to No. 10 in the weekly FCSAA Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll, released on Tuesday. 

In the women’s rankings, Tallahassee remained firmly entrenched in the No. 7 spot. 

The Eagle men dropped both of its games last week and now sit at 11-8 overall. As a result, they slipped from No. 5 to No. 10. 

Chipola College and Northwest Florida State College continue to lead the rankings at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. 

A loss by last week’s No. 3, The College of Central Florida, to Polk State College, opened the door for Daytona State College, who rose to No. 3, and Eastern Florida State College, who climbed out of a tie for No. 6 and into the No. 4 spot. 

Central Florida landed at No. 5 and shares the ranking with Santa Fe College. 

Pensacola State College, Broward College, Gulf Coast State College and Tallahassee round out the top ten. 

On the women’s side, Chipola jumped Gulf Coast State for the No. 1 ranking following a convincing victory over the Commodores last Tuesday. 

Northwest Florida State and Palm Beach State College remained No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Florida State College at Jacksonville moved up one spot to No. 5. 

Hillsborough Community College leads the second five and is followed by Tallahassee, St. Petersburg College, Pensacola State and Daytona State. 

Tallahassee hosts Chipola in a Panhandle Conference doubleheader on Tuesday evening.
