Eagles maintain poll position in FCSAA rankings

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 19, 2014) - Tallahassee Community College's men's and women's basketball teams saw no movement in the latest FCSAA Men's and Women's Basketball Coaches' Polls, released on Tuesday.

For the Eagle men, that was a good thing, as they held on to the FCSAA's No. 1 ranking for a second straight week. Tallahassee remained unbeaten with two wins last weekend at the Applebee's Okefenokee Classic, hosted by South Georgia State College. The Eagles defeated South Georgia Tech and the host Hawks.

Tallahassee improved to 7-0 with a 97-71 win over Gordon (Ga.) State College on Tuesday.

The Eagles added three more first-place votes this week and picked up 13 of the possible 20 and 190 total points in the voting.

Northwest Florida State College (five first-place votes) and Eastern Florida State College remained Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

The biggest movers in the poll were Broward College (two first-place votes), who jumped from eighth to fourth, and St. Petersburg College, who checked in at No. 5 after being unranked in last week's poll.

The second five consisted of the College of Central Florida, Miami Dade College, Daytona State College, Palm Beach State College and Pensacola State College.

The women's poll again featured very little movement.

Chipola College leads a quintet of teams who remained intact in the top half of the poll.

The No. 1 Indians are followed by Northwest Florida State, Gulf Coast State College, Tallahassee and Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Daytona State and Central Florida shared last week's No. 6 ranking. This week, Daytona State grabbed sole possession of No. 6 to lead a quartet of teams from the Mid-Florida College. The Falcons are followed by Central Florida, Santa Fe College and Hillsborough Community College.

Eastern Florida State round out the top ten.
