PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 10, 2015) – The Tallahassee Community College baseball team dropped a 9-8 decision at Pensacola State College on Friday evening as the teams split the two-game series.

The win also allowed Pensacola State to clinch the season series, three games to two.

The Eagles now are 27-17 on the season and 5-9 in Panhandle Conference play with six games remaining in the season.

Tallahassee jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.  After Chad Mabini walked to get on base the Eagles were faced with two outs when Zach Featherstone's two-run home run gave the Eagles the lead.

The Pirates broke the game open in the second inning, scoring seven runs to take a commanding 7-2 lead.

The Eagles did not go away quietly as they began to rally back in the sixth inning.  The only run of the inning came on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded as Cody Fulton crossed home plate.

In the seventh inning, the Eagles cut into the lead with three more runs.

Featherstone was awarded first after being hit by a pitch and Kyle Taddeo reached on a single.  Fulton plated Featherstone and Taddeo with a double into centerfield.  Tyler Kinard reached first base on an error by the second baseman, which allowed Fulton to score for the second time on the night cut Pensacola State's lead to 7-6.

The Pirates added a couple of insurance runs, including what proved to be the game-winning run, in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 9-6 lead.

The Eagles tried to rally again in the ninth inning but were only able to muster two runs.  With one out and the bases loaded, Mac Wilson walked to score Taddeo and Ethan Crout was hit by a pitch that scored Jeremy Scott.  The next two batters flew out to close out the game.

Cody Fulton went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Craig Olson got the start for the Eagles before being relieved by Chris Elander.  Olson was credited with tonight's loss, his second of the season.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, April 15 when they host Northwest Florida State College.  The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
