MARIANNA, Fla. (April 20, 2015) – After 10 days off due to heavy rain throughout the Panhandle, the Tallahassee Community College Eagles took the field against Gulf Coast State College on Monday evening in a neutral site contest held at Chipola College.  A late game comeback propelled the Commodores to a 6-2 victory over Tallahassee.

The Eagles now sit at 27-18 on the season and 5-10 in the Panhandle Conference. Gulf Coast State also clinched the season series with the victory and owns the tie-breaker with Tallahassee if the teams finish tied for third.

Playing as the home team, the Eagles jumped out to an early lead scoring in the bottom of the game's opening inning.  Chad Mabini walked to get on base and was plated two batters later by Cody Fulton on a double to left field as the Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead.

Starting pitcher Craig Olson carried the 1-0 lead into the seventh before running into trouble. That's when Gulf Coast State scored four runs. The Commodores added another run in the eighth to extend their lead to 5-1.

The Eagles cut into the lead in the bottom half of the eighth with a run of their own.  Facing two outs and with the bases loaded, Tyler Atwell singled into right field on a ground ball that brought Ethan Crout home for the score.

Gulf Coast State got the run back in the ninth to widen its lead back to four runs, 6-2.

Fulton went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI for Tallahassee.

Olson started and went 6.2 innings for the Eagles. He took the loss and is now 4-3 on the season.

Tallahassee's next game will be at home on Tuesday against Northwest Florida State College in a make-up game. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
