#TCCBaseball: Chatt Valley wins game two to even series

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 27, 2016) – NJCAA No. 5 Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College scored five runs in the sixth inning to erase a 3-1 defeat en route to a 7-3 win over Tallahassee Community College on Saturday afternoon, evening the teams' three-game series at one game apiece.

The rubber game will be played at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Chatt Valley batted around in the sixth inning and scored five runs despite only three hits.

Tallahassee starter Felix Dieguez issued back-to-back walks to start the sixth, which ended his day and brought on Octavio Marin. After a bunt single loaded the bases, Trent Simpson singled home the tying runs. An error plated the go-ahead run and the Pirates added two more to grab a 6-3 lead.

Chatt Valley added an insurance run in the seventh.

Marin was charged with the loss for Tallahassee. He pitched only two-thirds of an inning and allowed three runs (two earned).

Dieguez gave up a first-inning run, but the Eagles answered to give him a 3-1 lead.

Ethan Crout led off the first with a single and moved into scoring position when Tyler Kinard was hit by a pitch. Zach Featherstone's single loaded the bases, and Josh Nothdorft's ground out plated Crout for the first run of the inning.

With runners at second and third, another ground out, this one by Kyle Taddeo, scored Kinard and put Tallahassee in front, 2-1.

Deyvid Silva doubled deep down the left field line to score Featherstone with the final run of the inning.

Tallahassee was held to just two hits over the final eight innings.
