#TCCBaseball struggles continue at NWF State

NICEVILLE, Fla. (April 2, 2016) – Northwest Florida State College scored 13 unanswered runs and defeated Tallahassee Community College 13-3 in six innings on Saturday afternoon.

Tallahassee (28-13) has lost six straight dating back to March 18 to fall to 2-7 in Panhandle Conference. Northwest Florida State, despite an 0-6 start in league play, has won two in a row and now sits in third place in the PC standings (2-6).

Skylar Arias (4-3) dropped his third straight start, allowing six hits and eight runs (three earned) in just 1.2 innings.

Tallahassee jumped on the Raiders early, scoring three runs in its first at-bat. Zach Featherstone's two-run homer got the Eagles on the board. Later in the innings, Deyvid Silva singled home Kyle Cavanaugh.

The promising start was short-lived, however, as Northwest Florida State answered with seven runs in the bottom of the first. With two outs and nobody on, Arias hit Hunter Tackett to extend the inning. Five hits later, including a two-run homer, the Raiders had a 7-3 lead.

Northwest Florida State scored two more in the second, one in the fifth and ended the game with three runs in the sixth.

Tallahassee had ten hits, led by Bret Maxwell, Cavanaugh and Myron Mebane who each went 2-for-3.

Featherstone was 1-for-2 with the two RBIs.

The same two teams will play at Eagle Field at 5 p.m. Monday.
