#TCCBaseball’s Buckler, Silva to represent Team USA at NBC World Series

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (June 29, 2016) – Pitcher Brooks Buckler and shortstop Deyvid Silva will represent Tallahassee Community College as members of Team USA at the 82nd National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series, scheduled for July 29-August 13 in Wichita, Kan.

The NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association announced this year’s NJCAA National Team roster and coaching staff on Wednesday.

Representing 22 colleges from 11 states across all three divisions of NJCAA baseball, the national team features some of the best two-year college players from across the country.

“We’re very proud of our guys,” said Tallahassee head coach Mike McLeod. “(Brooks) Buckler and (Deyvid) Silva are two young men who certainly deserve this opportunity. They are talented young men who will play at the next level – either collegiately or professionally, and I feel like the NJCAA made two great selections.”

Buckler, a rising sophomore from Norcross, Ga., enjoyed a solid freshman season with the Eagles. He appeared in 20 games and posted a 3-1 record with two saves and a 4.75 ERA.

Silva, also a rising sophomore, hails from Miami, Fla. He appeared in 52 games as a freshman and batted .333 with seven home runs and 35 RBIs en route to first-team all-Panhandle Conference honors.

Buckler and Silva are part of a six-player contingent from Region 8 (Florida). Additionally, Northwest Florida State College head coach Doug Martin is an assistant coach, South Florida State College head coach/athletic director Rick Hitt will serve as the Team USA’s general manager and Florida SouthWestern State College assistant athletic director George Sanders will serve as the team trainer.

The NBC World Series is an annual late-summer tournament that serves as a showcase for some of the best amateur baseball players and teams in North America.
