#TCCBaseball: Eagles complete sweep of Quistas

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 28, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's baseball team won both games of a doubleheader against Pasco-Hernando State College on Saturday to complete a three-game series sweep of the Conquistadors.

Tallahassee took game one, 9-3, then won the nightcap in walk-off fashion, 4-3 – career wins No. 893 and 894 for head coach Mike McLeod.

In game two, Tallahassee was three outs away from the win, only to see Pasco-Hernando State tie the game in the seventh against closer Hunter Tinsley

In the bottom half of the inning, Aaron Haughton led things off with a double to put the winning run in scoring position. Following a passed ball and two intentional walks to load the bases, Cole Vann singled to right, scoring pinch-runner Chris Hawkins with the winning run.

Christian Dearman (1-0) recorded the final out of the seventh and wound up with the win.

Tallahassee spotted Pasco-Hernando State an early 1-0 lead then erased it with a three-run third inning.

Tanner Thomas' double to deep left-center scored Bryce Plummer and Myron Mebane. Thomas later scored in a wild pitch to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead.

Thomas was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs in game two.

In the opener, the Eagles picked up the win despite only four hits. Aiding in the cause were nine walks issued by the Conquistadors – five during a seven-run fourth inning that erased Pasco-Hernando State's 3-0 lead.

Jack Hartman and Hawkins drew back-to-back walks to lead off the Tallahassee fourth. Following a sac-bunt, wild pitch and sac-fly, the Conquistadors' lead was cut to a run.

With the bases empty, Bret Maxwell walked and later scored the tying run on a passed ball. Tucker Rayburn's go-ahead double plated Thomas and Deyvid Silva, and the Eagles tacked on two more runs in the inning to grab a 7-3 lead.

Tallahassee added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth, courtesy of Hartman's double that scored Thomas and Rayburn.

Pasco-Hernando State scored three runs in the top of the fourth to knock out Tallahassee starter Nick Marchese. Inheriting a three-run deficit, Malik Barrington (1-0) stopped the bleeding and pitched one inning to record the victory.

Octavio Marin pitched the final 2.2 innings.

Thomas went 2-for-3 and scored twice. Rayburn was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Tallahassee is back in action at 4 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College.
