#TCCBaseball falls in extra innings

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 10, 2017) – Shelton (Ala.) State Community College scored a pair of runs in the top of the 12^th inning to break a 4-4 tie and defeat Tallahassee Community College, 6-4, on Friday evening in game one of the teams' three-game weekend series. 

Tallahassee (5-4) has now dropped four straight games since opening the 2017 campaign with five consecutive victories. 

The game was all Shelton State until things got interesting in the bottom of the ninth. Down to their final three outs – for the first time – Tallahassee rallied, with some help from the Shelton State defense, to tie the game and force extra innings.

With two runs already in, a dropped popup continued to breathe life into the Eagles' rally. A wild pitch plated Jack Hartman from third to cut the deficit to a run. Following a walk to Chris Clark, a throwing error on a pickoff attempt at first went awry and Bret Maxwell scored from third to tie the game. 

The game remain knotted at 4-all into the 12^th when the Buccaneers scored what proved to be the game-winning runs. 

Shelton State pushed a run across in the second inning against Tallahassee starter Nick Marchese and the game remained 1-0 into the seventh. 

After watching Shelton State load the bases with nobody out, the Eagles turned a double play but a run scored and the Buccaneers added two more runs in the eighth for what appeared to be a commanding 4-0 lead.
