#TCCBaseball takes series finale with Shelton State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 12, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's baseball team snapped a five-game losing streak on Sunday, defeating Shelton (Ala.) State Community College, 5-4, at Eagle Field.

Tallahassee avoided the series sweep to Shelton State and moved a game above .500 (6-5) on the season in the process.

With the game tied at one, Tallahassee plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth – all with two outs – to seize momentum.

Jack Hartman's bases-loaded single scored Jordan Curtis and Josh Nothdorft to break the tie. A passed ball and walk loaded the bases again, this time for Chris Hawkins, whose single scored Deyvid Silva and Hartman to give the Eagles a 5-1 lead.

Christian Dearman and Hunter Tinsley pitched the final 4.2 innings in relief of starter Nick Blasucci, who also went 1-for-4 as the Eagles' designated hitter. His RBI-groundout in the first brought home Curtis with Tallahassee's first run of the day.

Dearman got the win with 3.2 innings of work while Tinsley recorded the final three outs for the save.

Tallahassee will travel to Florida State College at Jacksonville on Tuesday. First pitch is 4 p.m.
