#TCCBaseball: Eagles pick up first PC victory

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 16, 2017) – Myron Mebane's walk-off single scored Tucker Rayburn with the winning run to give Tallahassee Community College a 2-1 victory over Gulf Coast State College on Thursday evening.

Tallahassee evened its overall record at 16-16 while improving to 1-5 in Panhandle Conference play, just one game back of third-place Gulf Coast State (21-7, 2-4), who entered the game with a No. 7 NJCAA ranking.

Pitching was the story on Thursday for both teams.

Gulf Coast State's Ken Adair and Trever Kilcrease allowed only one run and five hits through eight innings.

Tallahassee starter Brooks Buckler was equally impressive. After allowing a first inning run, he shut out the Commodores over the next seven innings and allowed just seven total hits.

Derick Garcia (2-0) pitched a scoreless, albeit adventurous, ninth inning. He issued three walks but retired Jackson Webb on a fly out to centerfield to end the inning and keep the game tied at 1-1.

In the Eagles' final at-bat, Rayburn drew a leadoff walk and moved into scoring position on Nick Blasucci's sac bunt. Following a fly out, Mebane singled to left to score Rayburn with the winning run.

The same series of events got Tallahassee on the board in the seventh. Rayburn drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a sac bunt by Blasucci and, two batters later, scored on a single by Mebane.

Mebane finished 2-for-4 and drove in both Tallahassee runs.

The teams will complete their four-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader in Panama City beginning at 2 p.m. eastern.
