#TCCBaseball falls, postseason fate TBD in finale

NICEVILLE, Fla. (April 24, 2017) – For the second straight year, Tallahassee Community College's postseason fate will be determined on the season's final day.

The Eagles fell to Northwest Florida State College on Monday, 5-3, missing out on a chance to clinch a postseason berth and stay alive for the Panhandle Conference's No. 2 seed an automatic bid to next week's NJCAA District/FCSAA State Tournament in Lakeland, Fla.

After spotting the Raiders an early 3-0 lead, Tallahassee rallied to tie the game with two runs in the third and one in the fourth.

The Raiders broke the tie with a pair of runs in the sixth.

A second opportunity for the Eagles to lock up a trip to the postseason fell through on Monday when Gulf Coast State College shut out Pensacola State College, 4-0.

As a result, Northwest Florida State (14-9) locked up the PC's No. 2 seed, leaving Tallahassee (11-12) and Gulf Coast State (10-13) to determine the PC Wild Card berth on Wednesday.

Tallahassee hosts Northwest Florida State at 5 p.m. Approximately one hour later, Gulf Coast State and Pensacola State will get underway in Panama City, Fla.

If Tallahassee wins or Gulf Coast State loses, the Eagles claim the Wild Card berth. If Gulf Coast State wins and Tallahassee loses, it will be the Commodores who advance.

Regardless of the outcome, it will be a very quick turnaround for the survivor. The Wild Card game will take place at 5 p.m. eastern on Thursday against Daytona State College, the Wild Card winner from the Mid-Florida Conference.

If Tallahassee is the PC's representative, the game will be played in Palatka, Fla., at St. Johns River State College. If Gulf Coast State advances, the game will be played at Eagle Field.
