#TCCBaseball takes two from Thomas JV

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (February 19, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College swept a baseball doubleheader from Thomas (Ga.) University's JV squad on Monday, winning 14-5 and 9-6.

With the wins, Tallahassee ran its winning streak to four and is now 9-6 on the season.

Tallahassee won game one in relatively easy fashion, handing the Nighthawks a 14-5 loss. Game two started in the same fashion.

The Eagles sent 11 men to the plate in the top of the first and jumped on Thomas for seven runs.

With one run already in, Tucker Rayburn's single scored Luke Ard and Tanner Thomas to make it 3-0. Logan Lacey singled home Cole Vann and, after a walk to Cameron Wright loaded the bases, Kyle Benson singled to deep left, scoring Rayburn. A fielder's choice resulted in the sixth run and Taylor Lomack singled home Benson for a 7-0 lead.

Tallahassee increased its lead to 9-0 with a pair of runs in the fourth.

Thomas finally got on the board against Tallahassee starter Collier Baggett in the fourth, scoring two runs. Aided by a couple of errors, the Nighthawks did even more damage in the sixth – four runs cut the Eagles' lead to 9-6.

Derick Garcia (2-1) struck out the side in the seventh to end the game. He pitched the final four innings in relief of Baggett to earn the win.

Both Ard and Thomas went 2-for-4 at the plate for Tallahassee.

Tallahassee will travel to Andrew (Ga.) College on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. first pitch against the Fighting Tigers.
