#TCCBaseball rallies for fourth straight win

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 5, 2018) – Logan Lacey's two-run single in the bottom of the seventh broke a 3-3 tie and sent Tallahassee Community College to a 5-3 win over Northwest Florida State College on Thursday evening in Panhandle Conference baseball action. 

The surging Eagles (29-14, 7-7 PC) have won four straight PC games and eight of ten overall to move into a second-place tie alongside Gulf Coast State College (7-7), who lost at Chipola College on Thursday, 7-3. Northwest Florida State (5-9) has dropped four straight and is two games back of the Eagles and Commodores. 

Lacey's seventh-inning single completed a three-run inning that erased the Raiders' 3-2 lead. It was his second two-out, two-RBI single of the game – and both came with two strikes. 

After Cameron Wright was retired on a bunt attempt to start the seventh, Mason Miller successfully bunted his way on to start the rally. Jayson Sowden singled to left, and Tanner Thomas was hit by a pitch, loading the bases for Cole Vann. 

Vann had a similar opportunity in the third, only to line into a double play. He got the job done in the seventh, however, scoring Miller on a ground out to first to tie the game. 

Lacey followed Vann's third-inning at-bat with a single to left, scoring Miller and Sowden to give Tallahassee a 2-1 lead. Things played out almost identically in the seventh. 

Facing a 1-2 count, Lacey took Christian Camacho's final pitch of the evening to left field, scoring Sowden and Thomas with the go-ahead runs. 

Camacho allowed only seven hits in 6.2 innings, but three came in the decisive seventh inning. 

Derick Garcia (4-4), who came on in relief after starter Brandon Reitz allowed a leadoff single in the fifth, pitched four innings for the win. He allowed only one hit and struck out four. 

Jake Kinney recorded the final three outs for his fifth save. He, Garcia and Reitz combined for nine strikeouts, sending the Eagles over the 400 mark on the season. They currently lead the country with 408 strikeouts as a staff. 

As it did in Tuesday's game, Northwest Florida State got on the board first, scoring a first-inning run against Reitz. The Raiders tied the game at 2-all with a run in the fourth and took a 3-2 lead on Cole Halfcare's two-out single off Garcia in the fifth. 

Following Lacey's third-inning single, Camacho retired the next nine batters and allowed only one hit prior to Miller's bunt single in the seventh. 

Lacey went 2-for-4 with four RBI. Miller was 2-for-3 and scored twice while Ard also had two hits. 

Due to the forecast of inclement weather on Saturday, the teams will wrap up the four-game series with a doubleheader in Niceville, Fla., on Friday. Game one begins at 4 p.m. eastern.
