#TCCBaseball drops home finale

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 23, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College lost its home finale on Monday, falling to Northwest Florida State College, 4-3, at Eagle Field. 

Tallahassee (35-17, 13-10 Panhandle Conference) had its three-game winning streak snapped while Northwest Florida State (28-21) won for the second straight time against the PC's top two teams. The Raiders knocked off conference champion Chipola College on Saturday, 7-1. 

Tallahassee got on the board in the bottom of the first when Cole Vann singled home Mason Miller. After that, the teams traded single runs in the third and fifth innings – Vann scored on Tucker Rayburn's single in the fifth to put the Eagles back in front, 3-2. 

Still trailing 3-2, Northwest Florida State plated two runs in the seventh that proved to be the difference. 

Miguel Cienfuegos led off the inning with a single then stole second and took third when catcher Cameron Wright's throw ended up in center. Christian Camacho singled home Cienfuegos to tie the game and later scored the go-ahead run when Cole Halfacre drew a bases-loaded walk – the last of three consecutive walks issued by the Eagles' pitchers, all with two outs. 

Tallahassee left the tying run stranded in scoring position in the seventh and couldn't take advantage of Jayson Sowden's leadoff walk to start the ninth. He advanced to third but was stranded when Tanner Thomas flied out to center to end the game. 

Brandon Reitz started and pitched 5.2 innings for Tallahassee. Tyler Lehrmann (4-1) pitched one inning and was charged with the loss. 

The Eagles had nine hits, all courtesy of three players. 

Vann was 4-for-4, Rayburn was 3-for-4 and Miller was 2-for-4. The rest of the lineup was 0-for-21. 

The same two teams will close the regular season in Niceville, Fla., at 6 p.m. eastern on Wednesday.
