#TCCBaseball eliminated by Santa Fe

LAKELAND, Fla. (May 14, 2018) – In the continuation of Sunday's elimination game at the NJCAA Gulf District/FCSAA State Baseball Tournament, Santa Fe College knocked off Tallahassee Community College, 6-3, on Monday afternoon. 

Santa Fe will continue in the loser's bracket and is one of four teams remaining. Tallahassee, meanwhile, ends its season at 37-21. 

Prior to the game being suspended due to rain on Sunday, Santa Fe scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth when Jake Kinney uncorked a wild pitch. Tallahassee threatened in the bottom half, loading the bases with two outs but Cameron Wright struck out to end the scoring threat. 

Game officials immediately halted the game and resumed play on Monday afternoon with the Saints clinging to the one-run lead. 

Kinney returned to the mound for Tallahassee and allowed a solo homer to Brock Edge in the seventh. 

Mason Miller answered for the Eagles in the bottom half with a leadoff homer to bring Tallahassee back within a run, 4-3. 

Santa Fe scored twice in the top of the eighth, both coming with two outs, to finish the scoring. 

Alex Stobert (4-3) pitched into the sixth inning on Sunday before exiting after the first two batters reached. He took the loss for Tallahassee. 

Stobert (six), Kinney (five) and Derick Garcia (two) combined to strike out 13 batters, the Eagles' 26^th double-digit strikeout game of the season. Tallahassee pitchers struck out a school-record 526 batters in 2018. 

Down 1-0, Tallahassee tied the game in the second when Trey Polewski singled to score Logan Lacey. 

The teams swapped runs in the third. Tallahassee scored when Tucker Rayburn tripled into the right field corner to plate Tanner Thomas, who reached base on a walk. 

Miller (2-for-5), Thomas (2-for-4), Rayburn (2-for-4) and Polewski (2-for-4) had two hits each for Tallahassee.
