#TCCBaseball falls late to Santa Fe

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (February 4, 2019) – Santa Fe College broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the eighth and defeated Tallahassee Community College, 3-2, in Monday afternoon baseball action.

Tallahassee is 3-3 on the season.

The Saints shut out Tallahassee, 2-0, one week ago and took a 2-0 lead into the top of the eighth on Monday.

The Eagles outhit Santa Fe, 12-6, and consecutive one-out singles by Ridge Abinsay and Logan Lacey started the game-tying rally. Following a fly out, Chase Forester drew a walk to load the bases.

Pinch-hitter Tyler Lala's two-out single scored both Abinsay and Lacey – Tallahassee's first runs in 16.2 innings against Santa Fe – and tied the game at 2-all.

Santa Fe answered right back, scoring the eventual winning run in its half of the eighth.

Garrett Mathes led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a passed ball before being lifted for pinch-runner Isaiah Perry. Perry eventually scored on Donovan Benoit's sac-fly to right.

Tyler Lehrmann (1-1) took the loss for Tallahassee.

Lacey was 3-for-4 to pace the Eagles' offensively. Both Jeff Athey and Taylor Lomack were 2-for-4.

Tallahassee will host Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
