#TCCBaseball: Eagles’ bats break out against ABAC

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 6, 2019) – Logan Lacey homered as part of a three-hit day then pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Tallahassee Community College's 11-4 win over Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College on Wednesday evening at Eagle Field. 

Tallahassee, who has alternated wins and losses its last four games, is now 4-3 on the season. 

After spotting the Stallions a 3-0 lead, Tallahassee got on the board in the third and scored at least one run in each inning the remainder of the game. 

Three ABAC errors extended the fourth inning for the Eagles, who eventually tied the game at four when Chase Forester scored from third as Taylor Lomack grounded into a double play. 

Lacey's two-run homer an inning later put the Eagles in front for the first time. 

Two more ABAC errors in the sixth led to another pair of runs and shortstop Zac Hill's bobble in the seventh – the Stallions' eighth error of the game – allowed Forester to score and increase the Eagles' lead to 9-4. 

Tallahassee completed the scoring with a pair of runs in the eighth. Ridge Abinsay's sac-fly scored Luke Ard and Lacey came home from third on a wild pitch. 

Lacey, the last of six pitchers used by head coach Mike McLeod, pitched a scoreless ninth and struck out all four batters he faced. After striking out Gunner George to start the inning, Matt Cuthrell struck out but reached first as a result of a passed ball. Lacey ended the game with strikeouts of Ben Tuten and Melvin Ray, the last of the Eagles' 17 strikeouts. 

Nolan Daniel started and struck out the side in the first two innings, but departed after 2.2 innings and trailing 3-0. Collier Baggett followed then handed things off to Allen Roulette (1-0) who pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win. 

Tallahassee will host Shelton (Ala.) State Community College for a three-game series beginning at 4 p.m. Friday.
